Our massage therapists have been schooled in most of the different disiplines of massage. To name a few

Swedish - swedish massage therapy techniques are the manipulation of soft tissue utilizing a variety of strokes and compressions.

Deep Tissue - is a term used to describe various massage styles that focus on the deeper muscles and connective tissues of the body. The therapist uses movement and pressure to reshape and realign the muscles and connective tissue, breaking old, habitual holding patterns. Rolfing, Trager, Hellerwork and Feldenkrais are all forms of deep tissue massage.

acupressure - Accupressure is an ancient Chinese healing method used to cure many common ailments. It involves applying pressure to certain points throughout the body to relieve pain and promote good health. Since the 1970's it is slowly becoming recognized as an effective form of healing.

reflexology - The ancient healing art of reflexology has been known to man for many thousands of years. It was first practiced by the early Indian, Chinese and Egyptians. It was observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. Thus, when you treat different parts of the foot, there is a related effect in the head. Treating the whole foot can have a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body.

Sports Massage - Sports massage is a specialty within the field of massage therapy that is geared toward the muscles used in athletic performance. It is designed to relieve the pain of athletic activity and to enhance the flexibility necessary to maintain healthy activity. Many modalities are used and sports massage defines a focus rather than one specific kind.

pregnancy massage - Massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of the childbirth experience. It is a fast-growing field in the United States that has attracted the interest of labor and delivery nurses, nurse-midwives, childbirth educators and obstetricians. Massage therapy enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.

Shiatsu - Shiatsu is a Japanese form of acupressure massage. The word literally means "finger pressure" in Japanese. Shiatsu defines 660 specific trigger points for pressure that result in opening the channels of healing energy known as ki. This is, of course, very similar to acupuncture. Though shiatsu works with pressure points, it is traditionally a gentle form of massage.
